Allen and I wanted to order in last night. However, we were sick to death of subs and pizza, so I went on the Great Google Search of 2010 for delivery in my area. And pulled up a bunch of Chinese. Which we were also sick of. But, not to be defeated, I kept scrolling down the page and I came across Cafe Courier (though this site is for Ohio, they also provide services in Idaho and Montana). Though I was a little put off by the lack of a professional looking website, I decided to click through and see what it’s all about.

Cafe Courier is a service that picks up food at a restaurant that otherwise doesn’t deliver and delivers it to you for a small fee. The downside is that they split the city up into segments and you can only order from a restaurant in your segment. So, while I had plenty of options, I couldn’t order from something on the other side of town, which was kind of a downer. You can create an account and place your order online, or you can order by phone. Cafe Courier accepts cash and credit cards, or if you’ve ordered at least two times before, they’ll accept a personal check.

Cafe Courier then takes your placed order, sends it to the restaurant and coordinates a time to show up so that they get it hot out of the kitchen and the order is not sitting there. The drivers also check the order against your order form to make sure everything looks correct before delivering it.

After checking on the Columbus Livejournal Community to make sure that the service was legit and not a scam to steal my credit card information, Allen and I decided to order.

At around 8:40 p.m., we placed an online order for delivery service from Carsonies. The total order came to about $40, which included a $3.95 delivery fee, $0.65 processing fee (based on percentage, so varies by order), and tip, which I thought was more than reasonable, since $40 is normally about what we spend when we go to sit-down restaurants if you include tip and drinks. The order was processed with an estimated wait time of one hour.

I was pleasantly surprised about 35 minutes later when someone knocked on the door and it was the delivery guy with our order. He was much earlier than I expected and very polite and friendly. The food was all hot (and delicious, but that’s another review!) and the order was completely correct.

I was 110% satisfied with this service. It’s nice to get out of the pizza rut, and there’s even an Indian restaurant that they deliver from in my area, which I’m completely excited about. We’ll definitely be using the service again and I recommend anyone in their service areas check it out. My only complaint is that I wish I’d heard of them sooner!
